Strength

I have wanted to write for a few days now, but haven’t gotten the chance. I don’t have much time now as I am heading to the Americas, but I wanted to be sure to write a few things in the few moments I have. Last weekend I had a few of my sweet high school girls spend the night and loved getting to have them over! I am looking forward to having them here again soon! After camp, I truly desire to finish out this year with them as they  will be graduating…Carrie and I are in the midst of planning a Bible Study to do with them this year! So excited about it and more on that to come!! I am so incredibly thankful for some sweet fellowship on Thursday night. My friend Katrina just got back from Ethiopia and it was a joy to join with other brothers and sisters to worship and hear about the trip! What a blessing! Also, I am very excited because today I am getting to see Natalie and Blair. Natalie just returned from Kenya and I can’t wait to hear all that God did while she was there!

One other thing I am very excited about is my grandparents and uncle are coming in from Arizona next week and then we are all headed to Nags Head for our annual trip with our relatives! We always have such a great time together and it will be a wonderful break from work and stresses here! Can’t wait 🙂

Ok, on to some not so fun things…my mom headed to the dermatologist on Wednesday for a mark on her face that she noticed about 3 weeks ago. They did a biopsy and we should have the results within the next 5-6 days, but the doctor says it looks like skin cancer. We are hopeful that if it is, that it is Basil Cell Carcinoma which is a cancer that does not typically spread outside the original tumor; meaning they remove layers of skin until they find no cancer cells and it should be taken care of that way. It’s not so much that we are scared, we fully trust the Lord in this as well as all things, it’s just that we are all tired. We couldn’t think of any other word to fit better. We are tired. My mom feels beaten and worn down by the constant hearing of cancer from doctors. Pray that she would be refreshed, that we would all be refreshed. Pray that the Lord would wrap His arms around His children and walk us through this. Pray that He would strengthen us and that we would depend only on His strength as He is the supplier; because when we are weak, He is strong and He is always sufficient! Pray that we would choose joy because we have Him! Pray that He lets us see more of Him in this and that His glory would be multiplied through it!

Just a few verses that I was reading recently in light of all of this:

“Rejoice always,pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-24

“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek his face always.”

Psalm 105:1-4

“The Lord is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.”

Psalm 118:4

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:9-14

“Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.”

1 Thessalonians 3:10-13
