SURPRISE!!!

Wow, what an insane week! I had a staff meeting and baby shower Thursday night after work and then left straight from there to go to hear Attalus in a concert at our church. In between all the other business of the week, my siblings and I were planning a surprise party for our parents’ 50th birthdays! My Dad’s birthday is today and Mom’s is a month away (on Valentine’s Day), so we decided to have their party together last night! All week long, Mom thought she was helping us to surprise Dad by taking him to dinner while we prepped everything and everyone showed up, little did she know, she was in for a surprise too! We hid a good portion of the plans from her even though she kept trying to stick her nose into everything 🙂 I was the head of the decorations committee and Lauren was head of the food committee…Chris and Ashley were a HUGE help getting food prepped and organizing pictures for the slideshow we made. Thankfully, with all our teamwork we pulled the whole thing off!! It was so much fun and we had a great turn out! We are so thankful to all the friends, co-workers, and family who took time out of their lives to come and celebrate with us! I know both my parents felt special as they fully deserved!

Today we headed to Burlington after all the adults worked out to get some hot dogs at Zach’s! It was DELICIOUS! Seriously, if you are ever in Burlington, head to our Uncle Zach’s restaurant for the best hot dogs around!

Then some of us girls headed to the outlets for some shopping in Mebane and the others went to hit a bucket of balls and go bowling. It’s been such a great weekend filled with love and fun. It’s so nice to have our family here for the whole weekend as well! Before I go, I wanted to leave a note for my dad on his 50th birthday!

Happy birthday Dad! This past year, I have seen you grow in your love and knowledge of God more than ever and it has been a true joy! The love you display to our family is astounding and such a challenge to me to love in the same way. I hope and pray that one day I can meet a man who loves me as much as you! To be your daughter is beyond a blessing. You provide for me, care so much about me, you are always there when I need you (haha even if you don’t always have to answer or we can’t seem to understand each other at times), and you never fail to make me know that you love me. I am so proud of the man that you are! I am so proud to be your daughter! You are the best dad a girl could ever ask for!  I am deeply sorry that I don’t always show you the respect you deserve and I am commanded to show; I wish I could love you perfectly and never snap at you. I wish I could show you the patience that I so greatly desire to; I am so thankful that you love me and forgive me even still and show me a little glimpse of how our Father in heaven loves unconditionally! I pray that this year will bring more growth in you faith; that the Lord would teach you who He is even more clearly than before, that He would challenge you to pursue Him deeper and further His Kingdom more effectively! I love you so much and I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I hope that last night’s party made you feel sufficiently special because that is exactly how you deserve to feel!
